A solar hot water system, also known as a solar thermal system, uses sunlight to heat water for domestic or commercial use. It is an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient alternative to traditional water heating methods. Here's how a typical solar hot water system works:
Solar Collectors: The system includes flat-plate solar collectors, which are typically installed on the roof or in an area with maximum exposure to sunlight. These collectors absorb solar radiation and convert it into heat.
Heat Transfer: A heat transfer fluid, such as water or an antifreeze solution, circulates through the collectors and absorbs the heat. This warmed fluid is then transferred to the storage tank.
Storage Tank: The heated fluid flows into a storage tank designed to retain the heat. The tank is well-insulated to minimize heat losses.
Backup Heating System (Optional): In regions with insufficient sunlight or during periods of high demand, an auxiliary heating system, such as an electric heater or a gas burner, can be installed to supplement the solar system and ensure a constant supply of hot water.
Distribution: When hot water is needed, the preheated water from the storage tank is circulated through pipes to the required areas, such as taps, showers, or appliances.
